Public Safety Division

PUBLIC SAFETY DIVISION
Objective
To provide expertise on fire safety, disaster prevention and incidents investigation.
Functions
The Division will perform the following functions:-
(i) To prepare fire prevention plans based on disaster prevention plans;
(ii) To conduct studies on investigation of arson and accidental fire; and
(iii) To conduct studies on fire and rescue matters.
This Division will be led by the Commissioner of Fire and Rescue and will comprise two (2) Sections as follows:-
(i) Fire Prevention and Protection Section; and
(ii) Fire Investigation Section.

Fire Prevention and Protection Section
This Section will perform the following activities:
(i) Prepare and implement fire prevention plans and monitor and evaluate their implementation;
(ii) Plan and inspect safety of construction of industrial facilities, petro-chemical facilities, petroleum and gas pipelines;
(iii) Conduct fire inspection on premises and other conveyance facilities;
(iv) Conduct drills on fire protection facilities, equipment and materials;
(v) Prepare drill standards for hazardous materials handling; and
(vi) Inspect and advise on the equipment in vital installations.
This Section will be led by the Deputy Commissioner of Fire and Rescue of Fire.

Fire Investigation Section
This Section will perform the following activities:
(i) Conduct studies on investigations of arson and accidental fire for the purpose of obtaining information related to the of fire and loss inflicted by fire;
(ii) Conduct fire investigations for the purposes of obtaining information related to the causes of fire and loss inflicted by fire; and
(iii) Carry out investigations on causes of all other emergencies and advise accordingly.
This Section will be led by the Deputy Commissioner of Fire and Rescue of Fire.
